Interpreting

Many of STF's members also work as interpreters.

The easiest way to find these members is to select the desired language combination and then search for 'interpreter', 'interpreting', etc.

You can also go directly to the individual member information to see if that person accepts interpreting assignments.

More information about interpreters can be found at www.tolkeforeningen.no.

Practical advice for clients

Interpreting

  1. Book well in advance – preferably 3-4 weeks for larger assignments.
  2. For simultaneous interpreting, you will need two interpreters who work in alternating half-hour segments for each language.
  3. Send background information in advance.
  4. Provide the interpreter with copies of speeches, lectures, etc. well in advance.
  5. Draw up a contract in advance with information about the assignment, time, location, fees, cancellation policy, travel expenses, room and board expenses, etc.
  6. The client is responsible for providing interpreting equipment and technical staff.
